This week, Bowen Elite Weightlifting heads to the national stage as two of our top athletes—Halaina Yancey and Ethan Bowen—compete at the 2025 USA Weightlifting National Championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
These two lifters represent everything we stand for at Loganville Fitness Collective: consistency, progress, and hard-earned strength.
🇺🇸 Halaina Yancey – U23 63kg Division
Lifting: Tuesday, June 24 at 1:00 PM MDT (3:00 PM EDT)
Halaina has steadily climbed the ranks and is now making her USAW Nationals debut in a new weight class: 63kg (formerly 64kg). With room to grow into the class, her training has been dialed in, and her recent totals show it:
- 2025 GA WSO Championship – Total: 139kg (Snatch: 62kg | C&J: 77kg)
- 2025 Iron Born Open – Total: 135kg
- 2024 Iron Born Open – Total: 123kg
Coach's Corner:
“Halaina has been one of the most coachable and consistent athletes we’ve worked with. Her growth—both in numbers and confidence—has been awesome to watch. She’s ready for this moment.” – Coach Ashley
🦍 Ethan Bowen – 71kg A-Session
Lifting: Friday, June 27 at 4:00 PM MDT (6:00 PM EDT)
Ethan enters Nationals in his new 71kg weight class, having previously competed at 73kg for years. His numbers are still climbing, and he’s looking to make a big statement in the A-session.
- 2025 GA WSO Championship – Total: 266kg (Snatch: 120kg | C&J: 146kg)
- 2025 Virus Series 1 – Total: 265kg
- 2024 NAO Finals – Total: 264kg
Coach's Corner:
“Ethan’s been building toward this meet for months. Dropping into a new class while maintaining strength is no joke, but he’s executed it with intention. He’s fired up and ready to go big.” – Coach Ashley
✈️ Behind the Scenes: The Road to Nationals
The team flies out Sunday, June 22, and you can expect full updates from Colorado all week. Both athletes are entering new weight classes—Halaina stepping confidently into 63kg, and Ethan leaning into 71kg with a strategic weight cut.
And yes—Halaina’s got a stash of sour candy for the trip, and Ethan’s meet week playlist is apparently all early 2000s emo... because why not?
🏋️♂️ How Do Weightlifting Meets Work?
Here’s how to follow along like a seasoned fan:
- Weigh-In: Athletes weigh in 2 hours before lifting. Precision matters—there’s no grace period.
- Sessions & Seeding: Athletes are grouped into sessions (A, B, etc.) by their entry total. Bigger total = higher session.
- Snatch & Clean & Jerk: Each athlete gets 3 attempts at each lift. Best of each is added for their total.
- New PRs or Medals? We’ll find out this week!
💥 Representing More Than Just Themselves
They’re lifting solo on the platform, but backed by their Bowen Elite teammates, Loganville Fitness Collective coaches, and a whole community cheering from back home. This is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.
